139: Tommy’s Outdoors Year End Show

Listen on Apple Podcasts

This is the final show of the year 2022. So, instead of examining another complex subject from the realm of conservation or ecology, I decided to record a solo episode and summarise what this year has been like for the podcast. I will also reveal some of the changes that are coming to the show.

I look forward to bringing you more wildlife, conservation, hunting and fishing, rewilding and ecology content in the coming year. All the very best and a happy 2023!

  1. Hi Tommy. Only found the podcast this year, but have enjoyed the issues that I have listened to.
A couple of random comments, based on a fairly small sample of podcasts. I like the balance of topics covered, particularly where they are not commonly in the mainstream media. As a keen safari-goer, I also value your coverage around African wildlife issues.
Looking forward to next year’s podcasts, have you considered a debate format where there are 2 clear “sides” to an issue? Although it might be challenging to find speakers for the 2 sides who would agree to the working within the format, this might work with the hunting debate.
One other point I would raise is that, while I like the depth of discussion that the length of the podcast allows, it is sometimes hard find time to listen to the whole podcast in one sitting.

Thanks and best wishes for 2023.
    Peter

    1. Hi Peter, thanks for your comment and thanks for listening! I’m thinking about the debate format every now and then. I would be fairly comfortable moderating it but there are other organizational difficulties. But I think it will eventually happen. Even, just to try something new. As for the length, you’re not the first one with a similar observation. At least I stopped making them longer and longer… Splitting an episode into parts 1 and 2 (for example) doesn’t really work. Luckily, most (if not all) podcast players will automatically bookmark where you finished listening and pick up from that point the next time you are ready to listen again.
Many thanks for your support and happy 2023!
      Tommy
